TAPM Exhibits at AAHPM/HPNA in Salt Lake
City
TAPM became the first
state Hospice and Palliative Medicine society to sponsor
a booth at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Hospice
& Palliative Medicine and Hospice Palliative Nurse Association in
Salt Lake City during February 2007. Our goal of increasing our
exposure and improving the recognition of our organization was an unqualified
success.
Among the dozens of booths, our Executive Director, Carla
Crossno's master marketing plan brought more people by the TAPM booth than any
other. TAPM distributed "fun" name-tag ribbons to anyone who came by
and expressed an interest. By giving them to other exhibitors ahead of
time, those exhibitors joined in the fun by wearing their individual fun ribbon.
Attendees were intrigued when they saw these and asked where they could get one,
thus leading every exhibitor in the hall to send attendees to the TAPM booth.
Information about TAPM's website, newsletter, advocacy
efforts, educational programs and ability to cross organizational lines to
promote collegiality among our members was of great interest to everyone,
whether from Texas or elsewhere. TAPM captured the attention of the
Academy leadership, who wanted to learn more. Several people from other
states inquired about how to start their own state societies.
Best of all, many Texans discovered TAPM for the first time -
some of whom signed up as dues paying members on the spot.
