MedScape/WebMD
online programs
Sponsored by an unrestricted
grant from VistaCare, there are now two separate programs online. The
WebMD program, "Caregiver University" is designed for family members or other
interested caregivers providing care for someone on hospice. The MedScape
program, "Practical Guidance for Physicians" is a free, CME-accredited online
offering covering hospice benefits and eligibility. While these can be
accessed at the WebMD and MedScape websites, they are most easily found at
VistaCare.
Education for Physicians on End of life Care
EPEC
is designed to educate all physicians on the essential clinical competencies
required to provide quality end-of-life care.
EPEC comprises several
complementary components. Sorry, but it is no longer free. But check
out their website. And online distance learning is now also available.

Life Physician Education Resource Center
The purpose of
EPERC is to assist physician
educators and others in locating high-quality, peer-reviewed training materials.
This Web site supports the identification and dissemination of information on
end-of-life training materials, publications, conferences, and other
opportunities.
End-of-Life
Nursing Education Consortium
The End-of-Life Nursing
Education Consortium (ELNEC)
offers courses for undergraduate faculty, clinical end-of-life care educators
and other continuing education/staff development educators. The
ELNEC project, a comprehensive,
national education program to improve end-of-life care by nurses, is funded by a
major grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Primary project goals are
to develop a core of expert nursing educators and to coordinate national nursing
education efforts in end-of-life care.
