Osteopathic Board Exam
certifies more HPM specialists
More
hospice and palliative medicine specialists attained board certification via the
first American Osteopathic Association - Bureau of Osteopathic Specialties HPM
certification examination, given for the first time in November 2009. It
is anticipated that ABMS will continue offering its certification exam in
even-numbered years, and AOA-BOS will continue offering its certification exam
in odd-numbered years. As a reminder, after the 2012 ABMS examination,
only fellowship-trained physicians will be eligible to take either examination.

AAHPM launches patient /
consumer website
PalliativeDoctors
is a new web-site
produced by AAHPM with a grant provided by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. The site
is intended to explain the specialty of hospice and palliative medicine to
consumers and patients, including information about how to find a
board-certified palliative medicine specialist.
